Map Presentation:

Sherwood Forest is a semi-open land map that allows for both aggressive and defensive gameplay, depending on how wallable your base is. Early aggression is common, as players often try to raid each other’s economies to gain an early advantage. This map is perfect for Feudal Age enjoyers who love fast-paced action. This map is similar to “Arabia” but you start with a strong wolf you can control, there are a few tricks to know about this unit.

  • Use the “bush tree” mod from the mod center, it will be way easier to understand where to wall.
  • Move your wolf using the “patrol” command so it moves faster, you can also put it in “no attack” stance so it doesn’t randomly attack opponent’s units without you wanting it.
  • Use your wolf to either lame the opponent or find the extra boars on the map and lure them to your town center. Make sure you don’t lose it as it heals.
  • Explore your base properly to find the best way to wall, it’s always wallable.
  • Ignore the lakes, they are a bait and will delay your economy.
  • Practice your Dark Age efficiency and stick to a solid build order.
  • Prioritize managing your own economy over damaging your opponent’s.

  • Never idle your Town Center.

  • Take safer resources, ideally those located toward the back of your base.

  • Secure your base early with short walls connecting to your Town Center.

  • Scout your opponent well and adapt your strategy accordingly.

  • Play to your civilization’s strengths, whether it’s military units or economic bonuses.

  • Don’t hesitate to build a defensive tower in Feudal Age, dying with 200 stone in the bank is a waste!

  • In Castle Age, play for map control and punish greedy booms with a forward castle.

  • Use castles to control key hills as the game progresses.

Castle Age:

  • Build a second Town Center on a good woodline, treat it like a large lumber camp.

  • Stick to two Town Centers to maintain military pressure.

  • Add more counter units as needed.

  • Take map control and put pressure on the front of your opponent’s base.

  • Once you gain map control, take a lot of stone and look to drop a forward castle near your opponent to hit his base.
