As you continue to improve, your mechanics and understanding of AOE will keep getting better. Now it’s time to accelerate your progress by setting realistic personal goals. These goals don’t always have to be about your Elo— they can be anything that helps you enjoy the game more. For example: “Stop worrying about my Elo, it doesn’t matter,” “Don’t keep playing when I’m upset with the game,” or “Improve my Dark Age efficiency.”
Every time you achieve a goal, you’ll feel a sense of satisfaction and increased motivation. Elo-based goals can be frustrating and stressful, which is why it’s better to avoid them. Instead, focus on smaller, achievable milestones that will enhance your overall experience and growth.
To find the goals that best suit you, consider applying for coaching. As an experienced coach, I can help you set the most effective and personalized goals to ensure you’re always progressing.
Here are a few examples of specific gameplay goals you can set for yourself:
- Improve my Feudal Age timings
- Spend my wood more efficiently
- Use control groups more consistently
- Become more comfortable with hotkeys and make a conscious effort to use them
- Improve my building placements
Remember, every goal you focus on will come at the expense of other aspects of your gameplay, but that’s all part of the improvement process!
