Map Presentation:

Mired is a nomad style semi-open land map. Early dark age is crucial as you will have to fight for the boars in the middle of the map to get as much food as possible. This map is perfect for messy dark age enjoyers. Once Dark age is done this map really seems like a semi-open land map.

If you’re a high-level player, I recommend checking out the semi-open maps advanced guide for in-depth strategies and advanced insights.

  • Practice your Dark Age blocking skills with the horse.

  • Make the town center right away outside of the “mud”, don’t look for a woodline
  • Focus on constant villager production, the map is messy.
  • Pick a good early dark age civ, any bonus is welcome (lithuanians extra food, huns no houses…)
  • Research loom right away, prepare houses with 1 villager and get only one single boar with the other villager
  • Keep things simple, take boars 1 by 1 and make sure you don’t allow your opponent to steal yours
  • Spam click with your villager if the opponent is blocking you
  • Keep the horse next to his boars, you may be able to block him going left and right in front of his villager.
  • Don’t panic if your opponent has more boars, he will screw up his eco.
  • Shoot the boars with the Town center.
  • Make a mill on deers in the back of your base
  • Prioritize managing your own economy over damaging your opponent’s.

  • Never idle your Town Center.

  • Take safer resources, ideally those located toward the back of your base.

  • Secure your base early with short walls connecting to your Town Center.

  • Scout your opponent well and adapt your strategy accordingly.

  • Play to your civilization’s strengths, whether it’s military units or economic bonuses.

  • Don’t hesitate to build a defensive tower in Feudal Age, dying with 200 stone in the bank is a waste!

  • In Castle Age, play for map control and punish greedy booms with a forward castle.

  • Use castles to control key hills as the game progresses.

Recommended STRATEGIES: (all build orders have to be improvised as the dark age will be messy)

For Low ELO Players:

  • Archer rush
  • Fast castle unique units

For Mid ELO Players:

  • Man at arms rush

  • Fast archer rush
  • Fast castle unique units

For High ELO Players:

  • Archer rush
  • Fast castle unique units with a good UU civ

  • 1-Range Archers

  • Skirmishers and Spearmen rush

Suggested Gameplan:

Dark Age:

  • Focus on executing your build order.

  • Scout your map properly to find key resources and walling potential.

Feudal Age:

  • Complete your build order and start walling your base once your main goal is achieved.

  • Add counter units based on what your opponent is creating.

Castle Age:

  • Build a second Town Center on a good woodline, treat it like a large lumber camp.

  • Stick to two Town Centers to maintain military pressure.

  • Add more counter units as needed.

  • Take map control and put pressure on the front of your opponent’s base.

  • Once you gain map control, take a lot of stone and look to drop a forward castle near your opponent to hit his base.
