Mongolia is a semi-closed map where your base is naturally protected by surrounding forests and cliffs. With proper walling, you gain safety early on, allowing you to focus on developing your economy or executing Castle Age–oriented strategies. Games on Mongolia often extend into the late game, making civilizations with strong late-game potential especially valuable. Unlike open maps, Mongolia tends to favor more powerful and expensive units, as the slower, more strategic pace rewards long-term planning.
